Female elephants will act as doulas during the birth of a new member of their herd. They will stroke the laboring mother and moan along with her, providing encouragement. They form a protective circle around her, kicking up dust to hide from predators, and trumpet in celebration upon the arrival of the new baby. The herd stops their travels while the mom rests and recovers. Grandmothers, mothers, and daughters stay together to continue the chain of support for the next generation. Elephants are the most emotionally similar animals to humans. Imagine if women were to have this same type of support. What if we were just WILDLY and bravely supportive of each other? What if we created FIERCELY strong chains of protection around every pregnant woman we know? What if we walked as though we were among QUEENS because we are? We can make “what if” happen. Doulas make it happen.
I struggled through my own first four births feeling uninformed and unsupported, but everything changed for my fifth baby when I was supported by a doula. I have found a passion in doula work, childbirth education, and raising up the next generation of doulas. I help families feel circled with loving support, their voices protected, and their journeys celebrated. I also help doulas train, certify, start, and grow their businesses so even more families can get the support and education they need. Whether you are looking to be doulaed through pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum, or through the start of your own doula business, I can bring you the expertise and encouragement you need along the way!
